$29 flights between Auckland and Wellington

Air New Zealand's last flight of the day between Auckland and Wellington is being promoted with a $29 "Night Rider" fare.

The airline says in a release that it adds the "equivalent" of 100,000 low-cost seats a year between the two cities, with $29 for a seat-only ticket and an extra $10 for a bag.

Between Sunday and Friday, flights will leave both cities at 10pm.

On Saturdays, the Auckland flight will leave at 9pm and return from Wellington at 10.30pm.

The 133-seat, Boeing 737 flights are on offer from today and kick in from November 5.

Koru Club snobs already complaining the lounge will be closed. What do you expect for $29

Do you get a hot snack and coffee?

After 40 years of 737 operations Air NZ finally wakes up and sells seats on its end of day positioning flights

I just hope this is for real ! not limited seats at this price, no small print, just plain and simple $29 -and your off to Auckland or/and vise versa - pity their also charging $10 for hand baggage?
Is that carry on-board? or booked in baggage ?
I'd have thought a carry on-board would not have cost anything.
So it's Friday depart, Sunday night return... just a teeny bit late for getting home and up for work monday morn.... 9pm may have been nicer.
but Aaah well.. can't complain about the price... they should Fill each and every flight!
this is awesome!

Let's see if our Cabinet Ministers are concerned enough about cutting government spending that they take these flights and help the so-called Balance of Payments problem.

Taken over the whole cabinet, over the whole year, the savings would easily equate to someone's annual salary who had to be laid off to save money.

Sweet brilliant air n.z.
