Auckland Rhodes scholar Oxford bound
A graduate of the University of Auckland has been awarded a prestigious Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford.
Max Harris, 23, graduated with a BA/LLB (Hons) and will commence his Oxford studies in October 2012 studying a Bachelor of Civil Law and plans to follow it up with a MPhil.
The scholarship offers full fee coverage and a $25,000 a year living stipend.
Mr Harris’ arts majors of History and Political Science encompass his passion for knowledge and debate. He was ranked as the 22nd best speaker at the 2009 World Universities Debating Championship.
His extra curricular activities include voluntary law work, student mentoring and weekly care of an autistic child.
He plans to return to New Zealand to fulfil planned career path of becoming a leader in law and developing a public interest law network.
