Ben Gracewood joins Vend
Software developer, commentator and Codemania conference organiser Ben Gracewood (aka @nzben) has joined Vend as software development manager.
Vend head of talent Kirsti Grant tells NBR Mr Gracewoood is the point-of-sale software start-up's 65th employ.
Earlier, CEO Vaughan Rowsell said Vend, which recently raised $8 million, will lift staff numbers to 100 over the next year.
"When I finished up at my last role, a number of people said 'you should talk to Vend'. I'm glad I did," Mr Gracewood says.
"Vend is a place where I genuinely feel like the least talented guy in the room, which is a fantastic feeling to have as a software development manager. Vaughan and the team have done outstanding work to grow a team so quickly, while retaining a wonderful culture and attracting huge talent."
Mr Gracewood left a solutions architect role at Datacom for a similar role at Intergen before joining Marker Metro, the first dev shop devoted to Windows apps. He quit his gadget guy slot on TV1's Breakfast following controversial remarks by then-host Paul Henry.
Other recent hires at Vend include Sim Ahmed, who came onboard as community manager. Mr Ahmed was previous a reporter with Tangible Media, writing for Idealog, StopPress and Marketing magazine.
