Charges laid over Hubbard death
Police have laid charges against a man whose vehicle collided with a car carrying Allan Hubbard and his wife.
The September 2 crash killed Mr Hubbard and injured his wife, Jean.
Police said in a statement the man, due to appear in Dunedin District Court on Friday, faced charges of careless driving causing death and careless driving causing injury.
The crash occurred 8km north of Oamaru and came months after Mr Hubbard was charged with 50 counts of fraud relating to his Aorangi Securities and Hubbard Management Fund investment vehicles.
The Police said: "The charges come after a thorough and robust serious crash investigation by police. As the case is now before the court, Police are unable to provide any further details about the crash investigation."

We can now only hope that justice is served with the SCF trial.
People in the know will be aware of how SCF became the wild west under Lachie McLeods reign of terror.
Mr McLeods leadership amounted to nothing but greed; pigs in the trough. Nothing close to how Mr Hubbard accumulated his wealth over a period of decades.
Work it out for yourself. Dont listen to politicians!! I dont ever remember them telling the truth.
NBR - get your facts straight... Allan was not killed in the car accident but in the helicopter enroute from Oamaru hospital (where he had been stabilised for an hour and a half) to Dunedin hospital. He was DOA after that short helicopter ride...
The Police said... "robust serious crash investigation by police."
UNTRUE the scene was NOT treated as a serious crash scene even though it was a head on crash (Earl was driving in the dead middle of the Southbound lane, whilst travelling NORTH) and the 3 people involved were all hospitalised.
The police did not treat the scene as a serious crash scene! There was no paint markings placed on the road where the vehicles had collided, landed etc... The question must be asked ... WHY?
Also Oamaru firemen that were at the scene have since denied even being there when they were. This reeks... and at the hand of our own police... The fullness of time is coming and all will be revealed. We have some evidence but the Police dont want to know, wonder WHY???
