Govt delays Mighty River Power sale to next year

Prime Minister John Key has announced the partial privatisation of Mighty River Power will occur between March and June next year.

It will now engage in a brief period of consultation with iwi on the "shares plus concept" raised in the Waitangi Tribunal interim report.

Key said the government's current view is that the "shares plus concept" should not be progressed.

The proposal suggested giving Maori interests rights and powers in relation to MRP "above and beyond the rights of other shareholders."

Didn't see that one coming.

What other options did they really have?

Telling them to p*ss off. How about that?

Total shocker, eh?

How absurd.

We are been sold down the river. Govt has effectively acceded sovereignty to a minority Maori group

shares = money = mana

or have i it the wrong way round ?

It is, once again, the tail wagging the dog, it can not, must not, be allowed to continue.
We either live in a democracy or we don't.
