Greens mark 10 years in Parliament
The Greens will today mark the 10th anniversary of the party's entry to Parliament.
In 1999, special votes counted after the general election put Jeanette Fitzsimons into Parliament as MP for Coromandel and the Green's party vote was finalised at just over the 5 percent threshold.
"Ten years proves we're a lasting feature of the political landscape," co-leader Russel Norman said.
"We've been around long enough to see a second generation of MPs start to join our caucus, there are new faces and new energy but the same values."
The Greens have nine MPs in Parliament.
Dr Norman said some of the most important accomplishments during the past decade were the home insulation fund that has upgraded 20,000 houses this year, the party's negotiations with the previous government to make electrification of Auckland's rail system possible and changing the Crimes Act -- the law that banned smacking -- to help keep children safe from violence.

The biggest curse NZ has had to endure from a gang of losers and no hopers.
There is not one peice of legislation that teh Green Party has been associated with, that is of any earthly use to the future of NZ.
All they have helped to do is accelerated NZ down the gurgler, with their drivel.
Nice little experiment, but time to bring back FPP?
