Retailers cut petrol prices 3c/litre

Major retailers have cut their petrol prices today, as the cost of oil falls amid global economic uncertainty.

BP, Shell, Z Energy and Caltex have all cut their prices for unleaded petrol by 3c, dropping their price for 91 octane fuel to $2.03.9 per litre.

Gull also cut its petrol prices by 3c a litre this morning, pushing the price to under $2 ($1.99.9) a litre at its network of unmanned drive through sites.

BP managing director Mike McGuinness says petrol prices have now fallen 6c since July 21.

“In recent weeks the strong New Zealand dollar has meant we’ve been able to drop prices at the pump. Although the dollar is no longer climbing the price of refined fuel has fallen and that’s allowed us to pass on this latest price decrease."

A cynical disgrace. That price would have to drop at least another 30 cents to be even vaguely in the ball-park, ETS crap and all that included.
Unless they are paying the govt extra GST, which would account for not a peep emanating from the Beehive.
Take a look at petrol prices at the NZ pump when oil was $140 and our dollar was anything but flash vs the US version.
This is blatant theft.....and "our" Z is part of the gang.
