Guy Hallwright revelation
Senior Forsyth Barr analyst Guy Hallwright has confirmed he has left the company.
It is not clear whether Hallwright – who was sentenced to 250 hours community work last month for running over a man's foot – resigned or was forced out.
When asked today whether he had resigned, he told NBR ONLINE: "I'm not working there, yeah."
"I have just left, yesterday," Mr Hallwright says.
The company's managing director Neil Paviour-Smith had earlier hinted that Hallwright would be fired.
However, since Hallwright's sentencing on April 30 he has been regularly putting out research notes as usual.
Hallwright would not confirm whether or not he left voluntarily.
"There's a both-ways sort of thing about it. There's still some water to go under the bridge, let's put it that way."
He says he is not sure what he's going to do now.
"I'm certainly going to have a break for, at the very least, a couple of months."
He would not say whether he's had discussions with other investment firms about doing research work – for which he his highly regarded – with them.
In the meantime, he says he's turning up for his community work every week.
"I'm doing something, but I don't want to go into the details."
