Hawaiian Airlines stays with Air NZ for heavy maintenance
Hawaiian Airlines has renewed the contract for maintenance of its Boeing 767 fleet at Air New Zealand's Auckland engineering base.
The contract with Air New Zealand Technical Operations extended the current arrangement for a further five years, Air New Zealand said today.
Hawaiian Airlines’ 18-strong fleet was on its third rotation through the Auckland base. The aircraft were scheduled one immediately after the other, occupying one heavy maintenance line in Auckland for 10 months a year.
Air New Zealand said the value of the new contract was commercially sensitive, but when the initial five-year contract was announced in July 2007, the company said it was worth around $45 million.

Awesome work Air NZ, now if only they actually did a few return flights a week to Auckland and Christchurch, would be even better for the NZ economy and put some downward pressure on the cost of flying between AKL/CHC and HNL.
Well Done Air NZ, This is another sign of innovation, this is the only flight in the region to fly at low altitude to avoid ash clouds and helped so many travelers and businessmen with their urgent commitments, there is no doubt that AirNZ has incurred more fuel cost on this valuable services.
