House of Travel no longer Inspire-d

House of Travel’s Inspire magazine is on the newsstands this month for the last time, after the company decided not to renew its fixed-term contract with HB Media.

Aimed at the 50-years plus affluent, frequent traveller interested in luxury, culture, food and history, Inspire won several awards at this year’s MPA Magazine Awards including custom magazine of the year.

HB Media also publishes Good and Idealog.

House of Travel said it was looking at alternative options to reward its high-value customers – the idea behind the magazine.

What the other options might be, it would not say, except it wanted to “add value” to high-end customers.

More likely, it is a sign of troubled times for the travel industry and a tightening belt?

Inspire was a great magazine, though its quality appeared to decline during the last 12 months or so. Looks like a case of the marketing budget being slashed. Another good title bites the dust.

At House of Travel we are now producing an exciting new publication. Our 'Inspire Holidays' catalogue goes out to 400,000 people each month, through various newspapers around the country. This allows us to take inspirational travel ideas to a much wider market than the magazine category we were playing in previously.

I agree with 'Disappointed' it is a real shame it has gone, there was nothing like Inspire in the market, plus it recently won so many awards. I've seen the 'Inspire Holidays' catalogue you are referring to and Jo you need to take another look if you think it is comparable to the Inspire magazine. The catalogue is exactly that: a catalogue.
