How Kiwi superyachts stack up
Auckland boat builders Yachting Developments and Alloy Yachts have won big at the International Superyacht Society Awards.
Alloy's highly-acclaimed 67.2m superyacht Vertigo, which had already won six major awards, was crowned best sailing superyacht over 40m at the awards, which were held at Florida's Fort Lauderdale.
Vertigo is Alloy's most-awarded creation, and the Henderson boat builder has now won 19 international superyacht awards.
Hobsonville's Yachting Developments also did well at the awards, winning best sailing superyacht in the 24-40m category for its 30m Antares III.
The vessel was built in less than 400 days, not long for a yacht of this calibre.
The west Auckland yard also won the best refit award for its refurbishment of the 1934 America's Cup J Class Endeavour.
