Key mobbed by McCarten-ites in Mana
Prime Minister John Key was mobbed in Porirua today as he campaigned for National in the Mana by-election.
A group of about 10 supporters of independent unionist candidate Matt McCarten crowded around Mr Key when he arrived at North City Plaza, and they were joined by Labour Party activists backing Kris Faafoi.
Mr Key couldn't hear the people he was trying to talk to over screams and chants, and one determined woman activist repeatedly got in his face as he tried to meet voters.
Rima Taraia persisted in demanding that Mr Key speak to her and demanded his attention. Security officers several times pushed her away from Mr Key but she wasn't removed from the scene.
The crowd around Mr Key chanted "John Key what's the score, one law for the rich and one for the poor".
Another woman, Caroline Harvey, said she was a qualified social worker but had no job and was living in a caravan in Cannons Creek.

A good example of the calibre of people who think that they should be running NZ's affairs.
Only ten? Pretty unimpressive in the rent-a-mob stakes.
Joke for NBR readers:
What do you call a "qualified social worker" without a job?
A start.
Pathetic. Typical of the loony left.
Marxists. What do people expect?
'Another woman, Caroline Harvey, said she was a qualified social worker but had no job...'
Well Caroline Paul Henry hasn't got one either and your friend McCarten and his bunch of losers were seen outside TVNZ demanding that he be summarily dismissed.
Have a crack at a little bit of personal effort Caroline and I suggest you get a real job not a pretend one like you are (apparently) trained for
About time for a little police brutality on this rabble I thing
all you john key lovers need to wake up
Seeing the Labour / Union activists last night “campaigning” just took me right back to the often confrontational, irrational and belligerent behaviour of the railway / wharfies and it seems not much has changed in 3 or 4 decades.
That’s probably a good thing for the National party and NZ Inc come election time – as plenty of us remember back to those days and the damage it causes NZ Inc as a whole. Give them another 3 weeks or so and they’ll blow up some minor issue from a mole hill to a mountain and then give strike notice about 2 weeks out from Christmas as they attempt to hold the country to ransom again extorting more for less as they always try.
It constantly amazes me that the Labour “leadership and brains” of the outfit believe they can achieve the best for NZ Inc by being so abrasive and divisive as they attempt to convince the NZ public they could do a better job than National.
Yeah right!
Lets face it Liebour and Mc Carten are really shivers looking for spines to crawl up.Seems to me the worst pain was inflicted on the "Workers" when McCarten actually had a seat in Parliament.Where were the screaming rabble in those times. They have not woken to the fact that a couple of Porirua Carpet Baggers have them dancing as puppets on a string, how ugly.shame Mccarten and Goff's little boy.
Someone made the observation that Labour are brutal in opposition. I guess it stems that they have easy strings to pull withteh unions and others seeking nomination to the labour party MP ranks. I wonder how many of the protesters were labour party of green members ? I was shocked to hear that one had travelled from Dunedin - how pathetic.....
Spoken like a true-blue Kiwi there no doubt, let's bring back Paul Henry!
Who cares about the underdog anymore, the low socio-economic regions of our country, the social workers, the underprivileged, the poor, then environment and the unemployed? They are just noisy attention-grabbing people, surely. Let’s give them a lolly to shut them up.
I'm sure all the taxes we pay go to those groups anyway, and very little towards first class travels for girlfriends to Hawaii and for husbands on private business to China...
What's the current unemployment stats again? And how much do we normally need to add to that figure when we are talking about the "non-NZ looking & sounding" portion of the population? Other than rolling over to Warner Bros by changing the law, let's try to find out any substantial long-lasting contribution this government has done to reduce further unemployment, get those already unemployed and teachers back to work (and to stay there)? Perhaps there is the extension of the 90-day employment "trial" period for all business sizes to help them feel more supported in these tough economic conditions...
We have a true-blue National Government, folks, let's make the most of it!
We dont have a true blue national govt because the tail (minor parties in coilition ) are wagging the dog (Nat Govt)
