Lawyer Cave features in law deals awards
Lawyer Shelley Cave played a big hand in securing “deals of the year” awards for law firm Simpson Grierson at this week’s Mcquarie Bank ALB Australasian law awards in Sydney.
Ms Cave was involved in the insolvency and restructuring for the ABC Learning Centres receivership.
She was also involved with Stephen Ward and Don Holborow in the Fisher & Paykel recapitalisation New Zealand deal of the year.
Rob McLean secured the M&A deal of the year for the Kirin – Lion Nathan acquisition.
The firm was named joint winner in the three categories.
In a PR statement, Simpson Grierson chairman Kevin Jaffe said the firm’s “strong international networks and global reputation had made a difference during what was a tough year for many in the global financial crisis.”

I am just wondering only Simpson Grierson only go a mention in this article. Pip Greenwood of Russell Mcveagh was awarded NZ Dealmaker of the Year and if the person who wrote it had bothered to go onto the ALB Law Awards website, they might have noticed that Bell Gully, Minter Ellison Rudd Watts and Russell McVeagh also received awards. A little one-sided perhaps?
Probably because I imagine this was based on a press release from Simpson Grierson, which would understandably focus on their wins - rather than any real reporting by Jock Anderson, or on the overall ALB press release. It's clearly not a news article - just a press release tidbit, so I wouldn't worry too much.
