Male and over 40? Get a prostate check

The Prostate Cancer Foundation is calling for all men over 40 to get a prostate check.

Tomorrow marks Blue Friday, part of a national campaign during September to raise awareness of the 600 men who die every year from the disease.

The foundation has invited 600 members of the public to lay a cross outside Te Papa museum tomorrow in remembrance.

Foundation supporter and cancer survivor Ian Morrison said more people need to get checked regularly so they can get early treatment.

“About half of those 600 deaths may have been prevented by early detection. Prostate Cancer can only be caught early if men from the age of 40 get regular prostate checks,” Mr Morrison said.

The pillars at the front of Parliament house will turn blue tomorrow for the cause.

prostate

Pity that many GPs are actively discouraging men from getting the test

Prostate

If men had breasts, they would have had cancer checks way back in the 80's.
The feminist regime that hijacked the country weren't interested in Men's health; and still aren't.

Prostate test

Our doctor keeps saying that a blood test-PSA-every couple of years is sufficient. My husband is 65 and I am not happy about this. My man is happy to take the DR's word and so avoid the "digi" test-this is SOOOO infuriating (and selfish)-lots of people love him very much.ADVICE PLEASE.

prostate cancer (PC)

I'm a PC survivor. Old-fashioned GP did the finger-up-bum check, found a lump. Then did blood (PSA) test, discovering #8 result. Biopsy revealed low-level cancer, restricted to prostate. I elected radiation therapy -- tedious but effective. Change of diet also imperative: much less protein, way more greens. If you GP declines test, go elsewhere. Don't delay.
