Nokia launches new 8GB camera phone

Nokia continues its move into the digital photography space with the launch of its new eight megapixel camera phone just released in New Zealand.

The new Nokia N86 8MP has been designed for bright and low light conditions, and has video and geotagging capabilities.

The new phone features 8GB of internal memory, enough storage for up to 4,000 photos, with the option of increasing the memory to 16GB with an exchangeable microSD card. It retails for NZD$1,499 at selected retailers.

Nokia ran a photo competition to promote the launch of the new phone. Each participant was loaned a phone to use. The winner was announced in Auckland yesterday. The first prize went to Kerri Jackson for a contemporary picture of a rag doll, who won a Nokia N86 8MP phone.

Nokia New Zealand said the competition was to promote digital photography and the move from digital cameras to phone cameras. The phone would be sold exclusively through Vodafone.
