PM ditched from international climate debate
Prime Minister John Key has been dumped from a climate change debate in Copenhagen, with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd set to take his place.
The debate was due to be aired on the BBC tomorrow morning NZ time and includes Mexican President Felipe Calderon and South African President Jacob Zuma.
Mr Key's delegation was told of the switch overnight.
Trade Minister Tim Groser said it was an unfortunate development, but little could be done about it.
"It's a bit disappointing, but that's the way the world works," he told Radio New Zealand this morning.
Environment Minister Nick Smith said this week it was a huge honour for Mr Key to be included in such a significant debate.
The debate is due to be aired on BBC World News on December 19 and 20.

Enviroment minister said it would be a huge honour for our PM to be in on the debate. That says it all. Better to take a quick trip late at night and head for Letterman top 10 list. At least he will be perhaps maybe allowed to read that New Zealand has the loosest slot machines again. John will be in Copenhagen to smile and smile and win the world. What a huge waste taking all the troop of people without political experience. No suprises yet. Hope our delegation has taken ywo flags to flip in the wind of Copenhagen.
postman pat has got it. yes is the answer.
its called positioning. ETS = increased power costs = public uproar = new solution.
= nuclear NZ x the same everywhere planet earth
basic stuff. why do you think they are setting copenhagen and co2 elimination to fail.

A real eye opener
Could New Zealand be in for the same massive power increases as Australia?

So much for Nick Smith's claims that NZ would lead the way on climate issues! We are quite rightly being ignored - rightly so because NZ is an insignificant contributor to carbon output - which makes a mockery out of out ETS legislation. Nick Smith has made NZ look as foolish as he is.
Nz is being set up for a massive transfer of our wealth to so called pooer countires and it has the fingers of our former Pm all over it Clark is a traitor to the country of her birth She and the Un seek to reduce NZ living standards in their mad quest for global equalisation where every country has the same living standards This is socialisim on a global scale that even the Commies failed to achieve
What a relief that our Johnny will not have to make a fool of himself on our behalf, We always knew Rudd was a fool and we will not be disapppointed when he opens his big gub on BBC PROPAGANDA ETS SCAM
