Quake to cost $4b - Treasury estimate
NZPA | Wednesday September 08, 2010
Estimates about the cost of the Canterbury earthquake have doubled to $4 billion.
Treasury Secretary John Whitehead told media the previous estimate of $2b was in relation to Earthquake Commission (EQC) liabilities only.
"The cost faced by the EQC, individuals, and insurance costs will probably be of the order of $4 billion," Mr Whitehead said.
