Sime Darby takes Citroen franchise
Sime Darby Automobiles NZ Ltd is the new importer of the Citroën brand in New Zealand from February 1.
General manager Grant Smith says in a statement the timing for this announcement and change "couldn't be more perfect" as the PSA Group now focuses on its presence in international markets and sales outside of Europe.
Mr Smith says the PSA Group intends to launch the largest number of new Peugeot and Citroën models ever in a single year this year.
“The brand has great heritage around the world and, given the connection of Citroën and Peugeot globally, it made sense to bring the two brands together here in New Zealand."
Peugeot NZ 's current divisional manager Simon Rose has been appointed as the new divisional manager for the Citroën brand.
"The premium Citroën DS product range has surpassed expectations and is experiencing exceptional growth and success worldwide, which is something we intend to build on for the New Zealand market," Mr Rose says.
There will be changes to the vehicle range and pricing and an expected growth in sales, he says.
The full range of future products and marketing details will be announced during an official launch function in mid-February.
Citroën will start operation with five dealers nationwide and is in negotiations to build the network.
