'Snapper' Mallard surprises defamation papers server
Labour MP Trevor Mallard says a woman made an appointment at his electorate office under a fake name so she could serve him with defamation papers on behalf of ACC minister Judith Collins.
Mr Mallard took a photograph of the woman yesterday after she handed him the papers then posted it to his Twitter account.
He says she claimed she had a problem with hospital treatment when the appointment was made.
Mr Mallard and fellow Labour MP Andrew "Stuart" Little are facing defamation action from Ms Collins for comments they made relating to the source of leaked ACC documents.
Mr Little was served his papers last week.
Ms Collins wants a High Court judge to declare she was defamed by the pair and to order them to pay her legal costs.

Mallard in Government was a unbridled lawmaker, but refuses to be bound by the Laws of the Country
If it talks like a duck, walks like a duck then its probably a mallard telling others they are a duck. ButWe have now swapped the comedy show Little & large for Little & Duck
Thank goodness this guy no longer has a chance of being a minister, snapping a photo of a poor woman doing her simple job. WT*
Ah,
But the woman fronted under false pretences
So does Mallard when he proports to be intelligent
"Proports" to be intelligent. Nice one.
She probably fronted up under false pretenses because Mallard had been ducking for cover and refusing the opportunity for the papers to be served.
Mallards political career is an exercise in false pretenses so why is he all high and mighty now?
Is the publishing of her photograph on any social media by an MP a breach of the Privacy Act if it is against her wishes or without her express permission?
Ducking responsibility and Little credibility... and they wonder why Labour is so poorly thought of by the public... on both sides of the Tasman!!
I agree......I also wonder if there has been a breach of privacy; regardless this is hardly the behaviour of a leader - more shameful Mallard behaviour
The act of being served by a bailiff on behalf of the court, by way off a complainant"s claim , is a Constitutional right, AND THERE FOR MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT, THE LAW MAKERS NEED TO UP HOLD THE ABOVE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS BY EXCEPTING THE SERVICE, Duck and co are clearly in CONTEMPT OF THEIR OWN OFFICE.
Typical Mallard behaviour:can't teach an old duck new tricks!

Well Trev you've proven a slippery sort of chap yourself over the years(or should that be greasy?)
Sauce for the goose!
Hopefully Judith will end up roasting the poultry
The biggest serve Duck & Little will get will be from the NZ voter...and it will be a resounding NO!
Mallard the Duck - what a tosser. Shame we as working Kiwis have to support him with an income he doesn't earn.
Fantastic work. Do we need a Productivity Commission to figure out where the wasted time is going in this country?
The ol' "Make-an-appointment-using-a false-name" trick. And Trev fell for it -- hook, line and sinker.
This is called lying, typical national party politics.
Mallard ducks have more sense than tempertantrum Trevor, ducks know instinctively when a duck-catcher is about to pounce. I wonder whether he asked for permission to take a photograph of the lady doing a real job, delivery a summons which will cost Mallard plenty of feathers!
If this goes to court will the lawyers be able to request access to all Ms Collins emails to infact prove that she did pass on information or was a knowing participant in the transaction by proxy person?
Trevor Mallard and Andrew Little don't have to ask for that, as they already know, and can prove it. Don't worry
Is that right?.
Well if Mallard and Little are so sure of themselves why are they so desperate to avoid being served the court papers?
Crusher's got em I'd say.
I was concerned it is a worry that that they aren't sure of themselves. They are not worried, so there is no need for anyone else to be concerned on their behalf
Love yr work lady !
In response to Jago were do you live so you also can be served with a deformation suit.
Interesting that Collins is just seeking a judge to declare she was defamed and legal costs but no damages. Sounds like Collins is taking the easy way out in terms of action and not going the full h
