Telecom issues advisory for those still having trouble with XT
At 6.17pm last night, Telecom issued a statement saying its XT mobile network was back up and running.
The network had been down, for all customers south of Taupo, since around 4.30am.
Some of the 100,000 affected customers were still unable to use their cellphones, or found service was intermittent.
Telecom said this was, in part, because some of its cell sites became overloaded as customers rushed to make calls at once as it came back online.
Later, the telco said that customers still unable to get a signal should turn off their phone, remove its battery, wait several seconds, then restart.

Great back up planning Telecom! As usual it is the customers fault. What did the advertising say about coverage.........Looks like another false advertising fine on the way or is a "Software failure" an act of God?
I love being a tlecom customer, they always give me a s***t load of excuses all the time. And now they blame us (customers) for their delay in restoration.
we are back to the days in the mid 80s when you had to make a toll call before 8am or after 6pm to get thru. Fact is Telecom havent invested in infrastructure and offer a less than 3rd world country service. And the sheeple put up with it
Software that has been running does not suddenly fail.
The human hand is involved - a software upgrade that went wrong.
