TelstraClear has rebutted rumours swirling around the internet that its Aussie parent's chief executive influenced its decision to pull out of talks aimed at resolving the stalled copyright law.
Across the Tasman, Telstra chief executive Sol Trujillo has been a vocal opponent of similar legislation across the Tasman.
But despite speculation voiced to NBR by a rival telco yesterday, Mr Mirams says TelstraClear's decision to bail on the TCF talks was not driven by the controversial Telstra boss' thinking.
"We're not a cookie cutter operation. This was a local decision based on the local landscape," says Mr Mirams.
