I lived in Christchurch for 2 years from 1960 – 62. I worked at Miller's, the big department store (famous for being the only one in the South Island with an escalator – people used to bring their kids to play on it in the holidays!) in their advertising department as a copywriter. I lived in the centre of the city. Breaks my heart now to see the devastation. Deepest sympathy to the people of Chch – you will overcome!
My god, the devastation still takes my breath away.
