Vodafone pulls iPhone 4 insurance

Vodafone has pulled its iPhone 4 insurance offer.

For $9.95 a month, owners of Apple’s latest wonderphone were guaranteed a replacement handset in 48 hours following fire, loss or theft.

After online ribbing from a retail chain earlier today, Vodafone head of corporate communications Paul Brislen confirmed the policy had been withdrawn.

But stock problems mean the company is not confident it can supply a replacement within that time-frame, Mr Brislen told NBR.

Policies will be honoured for those who have signed up so far, but new sign-ups won't be accepted until stock levels improve.

A new iPhone 4 sells for $1099 (16GB) or $1299 (32GB) off contract.

On the iPhone 4’s August 4 “launch” day, a limited number of handsets sold out within four hours and supply has been sporadic since.

When a new shipment arrives, it sells out the same day.

People could still insure iPhone 4 through their home and contents policy provider, Mr Brislen said.

Meantime, Cantabrians, don't leave your smartphone lying on any shaky looking mantelpieces.

What a joke!

This phone becomes more of a fail as time goes on.

It's Vodafone that's the problem. Their high cost and jungle coverage is the real issue.

Their strategy in NZ is iProfit after their $600m iBilling iT business for the boys disaster so unfortunately customers come last in their iGenda.

iSorry.

one of the most expensive phones on the market and without coverage, think again if you want to loose 1k and get back nothing. unbelievable.
