Williams not even last on NZ First list, Lole-Taylor demoted

Last week New Zealand First’s Andrew Williams publicly complained about being demoted from 3 to 13 on the party’s draft list. Now he doesn’t appear on it at all.

Mr Williams won't be standing for the East Coast Bays seat either.

The effective end of Mr Williams’ time as an NZ First MP after just one term comes a week after he blamed his lower list ranking on a conflict with deputy leader Tracey Martin.

Yesterday party leader Winston Peters termed Mr Williams’ public declarations about the selection process as a breach of confidentiality that he was “very concerned about”.

Current MP Asenati Lole-Taylor is still on the list but in 16th place she’s unlikely to be returned to parliament.

Ms Lole-Taylor has attracted negative publicity during the past few months, revealing her belief the Reserve Bank is “run by overseas bankers” and being caught up in a Department of Corrections investigation into the accessing of criminal records.

The full New Zealand First party list is as follows (note the return of former four-term MP and current Carterton mayor Ron Mark to the NZ First fray):

1 Winston Peters

2 Tracey Martin

3 Richard Prosser

4 Fletcher Tabuteau

5 Barbara Stewart

Winston Don Quixote Peters said yesterday that the delay in releasing the New Zealand Last (oops, First) but Winston First list that it was not because of any conflict in the list.

The Huka Lodge disease is spreading!

No matter what name is on the deckchairs... they're still all on the Winston First's paddle steamer... and since they would need the Greens and Labour... but Gareth would deny them the coal needed...

It's just as well they have an effective leader in Cunliffe to lead the way - once he gets into double figures as preferred PM that is...

Which leaves the question why an absolute idiot like the vile Richard Prosser, chiefly known for his ridiculous diatribes against Muslims, is placed so highly on the party list rankings? Could it be that (gasp) New Zealand First is trying to exploit Neanderthal religious sectarianism and xenophobia to get across the five percent threshold? (I apologise for that last phrase- Neanderthals are often cruelly defamed and do not deserve to be compared to Mr Whinebox and his motley band of fools).

What vitriolic nonsense.

You appear to be confused. Mind you, vitriolic nonsense is an excellent summary of Mr Peters animus against Kiwis of East Asian descent.

There will be a few trees on the North Shore battening down the hatches.

It doesn't matter who is on the list, or where they are on it. It's Winston First, second, third, forth, fifth and so on.

The release of the rejigged NZ First party list adds to the intrigue surrounding the election campaign.

Perhaps it involves a strategic move aimed at protecting the ornamental trees around Parliament House.
