Telecom CEO contenders

Chris Quin: Not saying

What next for Telecom after split?

Paul Reynolds

Let’s play 'Who’ll lead a de-merged Telecom?'

ABOVE: Big chair contenders Reynolds, Ratcliffe, Quin, Crockett and Gourdie.

At an analyst brief in Sydney on May 27, Telecom chief executive Paul Reynolds floated the idea of a “de-merger.”

Now, of course there’s many a game of cat-and-mouse to be played in the months before Crown Fibre Holdings selects its partner(s).

Reynolds: XT will boost Telecom’s mobile share by 10%

At Telecom’s XT briefing this morning, chief executive Paul Reynolds said his company currently sits on just under 50% market share, by unit sales, and around 40% by revenue. (In point of fact, mobile revenue for Telecom’s quarter ending March 31 fell 6.8% to $590 million, putting the company’s mobile revenue share of the mobile market at 38%; its market share by unit sales was 47%).

Telecom pulls back the curtain on XT pricing ... a little

As previously flagged, Telecom emphasised, speed, coverage and transparency of billing over any price war on Vodafone as it announced the “structure” of pricing for its new XT network today, with an aggressive deal only hinted at in one instance.

Specific pricing was thin on the ground.

The telco won’t do a full reveal until XT’s launch on May 29.
