Airline stocks fell on Wall Street as authorities continued to investigate how a Muslim terrorist was allowed aboard a US airliner in the Netherlands carrying explosives.

Delta Air Lines, American Airlines parent AMR and UAL all fell in New York trading, reversing a recent trend in airline stocks.

Delta slid 51USc, or 4.3%, to $US11.26, AMR fell 38USc, or 4.7 %, to $US7.76 and UAL decreased 36US, or 2.8%, to $US12.72.
