XT review finds: ‘Immature management systems’

Telecom has released its independent review of its network carried out by the UK-based consultancy Analysys Mason Group.

The document is relatively brief and mostly in summary form, but a Telecom spokesman told NBR the rest of Analysys Mason's findings are still in the form of a series of internal "working documents". These do not constitute part of the report; the nine-page document released today constitutes the report in its entirety, the spokesman said.

XT review should air Friday - the deals that hang on it

Well-connected equity analyst Guy Hallwright has told clients that Telecom has been handed a draft copy of Analysys Mason’s report on the string of XT failures between December and February.

Telecom has promised to share some details of the review by the end of this month. Some analysts have picked a May 27 briefing for its initial airing.

Mr Hallwright is picking that headline results will be shared at Telecom’s quarterly results briefing tomorrow (May 7).

Alcatel-Lucent NZ boss abruptly quits

Alcatel-Lucent New Zealand chief executive Steve Lowe has resigned, the company announced in a statement this afternoon.

No reason is given for Mr Lowe leaving the company, which has around 700 local staff.

Alcatel-Lucent is Telecom’s longtime network partner and the builder of its troubled XT network.

In the absence of official commentary, Twitter wags were quick to fill the gap, with one posting "Alcatel-Lucent boss suddenly stops working, with no explanation - much like XT".
