Auckland Council awarded Downer EDI three contracts covering the maintenance of roads, outdoor spaces and utility services with a total value of $224 million.

Downer tipped to renew Australian mining contract

Civil engineering giant Downer EDI has been granted preferred tenderer status towards renewing five-year contract to continue proving mining services at Boggabri, an open-cut coal mine in New South Wales.

Downing has run the mine since 2006 and its current contract will expire in December next year. A renewal would extend the job until 2016.

Contract negations are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The value of the contract depends on the production output of the mine and owner Idemitsu Australia Resources has yet to finalise this.

Downer signs up for new $5m+ Goodman building

Listed Goodman Property Trust has secured engineering and maintenance services provider Downer EDI to a new $5.1 million building at Christchurch.

The building will be a 2000sq m warehouse with offices, at Goodman’s Glassworks Industry Park in Halswell Junction, Hornby.

Downer’s new building will be completed in March, and it has signed a 15 year lease with regular inflation adjustments and a market review in 2021.
