Shocked furniture suppliers bear the brunt of Eon receivership

A moneylender whose shareholders include Fay Richwhite will get its money back from the receivership of high-end Auckland homeware store Eon, but furnishing suppliers are not so lucky.

Staples Rodway was called in as receiver at 4pm on Tuesday, a year after Eon moved its Auckland store to the Britomart precinct.

NBR understands that moneylender Blackbird Finance is owed a sum of money but should be repaid from proceeds of a closing down sale now on at Eon.

High-priced homeware firm Eon holds receivership sale

Upmarket Auckland homeware store Eon Design Centre is in receivership just a year after shifting from the Beaumont Quarter to the Britomart Precinct.

The store is currently holding a closing down sale with discounts of up to 30% off normal retail price, a sales staff member confirmed to NBR today.

The firm went into receivership at 4pm yesterday.

Eon was founded in 1999 by Angela Roper, who then aged just 26 set up Eon in Kingsland.

The company stocks mainly designer homeware, jewellery, ceramics and custom-made furniture by New Zealand designers.
