Skyrocketing numbers of international passengers pouring into New Zealand are pushing Queenstown Airport to invest millions of dollars to expand its facilities.

Queenstown Airport general manager commercial Simon Barr said the number of international passengers is expected to increase by 60% over the next year alone.

Together with predicted 10% growth in the number of domestic travellers this is bound to put pressure the airport would not be able to handle.

Surging business drives Forbarr’s northern expansion

Forsyth Barr, long the conservative southern bear of retail stockbroking, has finally stretched its claws to the northern most of New Zealand.
 
The big retail sharebroker announced today it is establishing two new branches: one in Whangarei and another on the North Shore to supplement its downtown Auckland operation.

The new branches mean Forsyth Barr now has 17 branches throughout New Zealand, up six from just 12 months ago and in the face of the biggest stockmarket plunge since 1987.
