Volatile NZD helped drive Rakon’s Chinese invasion

Escaping the volatility of the New Zealand dollar has been highlighted by another local manufacturer taking operations off-shore, with GPS technology maker Rakon expecting to save millions in currency movements with its new joint venture factory complex in China.

The company announced today it was planning to raise $65 million in a placement and share purchase plan, with $30 million of the new capital being used to fund an expansion to its Chinese manufacturing facilities.
