Apple appoints second NZ distributor

As widely expected, Apple has appointed a second New Zealand agent: Ingram Micro NZ. Ingram Micro will work alongside Apple's existing distributor, Reniassance (NZX: RNS).

US-owned Ingram Micro is the world's largest IT distribution company, and easily the largest in NZ.

A little trouble in big China

The CEO of the world's largest tech distributor is seeing signs of a tech slow down everywhere.

In Auckland or the opening of a new Ingram Micro office later this afternoon (moving the company's established NZ operation to flasher headquarters, still in Albany), CEO Greg Spierkel says his company just closed its first quarter of negative growth since the 2001 tech wreck (revenue was down 4% to $US8.28 billion; profit halved to $US46.4 million).
