Apple previews iPhone OS 3.0 - and some nice surprises

iPhone is getting its third major software makeover in June. Today Apple previewed iPhone OS 3.0, to frenzied anticipation. Would photo messaging, video capture, Bluetooth tethering and other conspicuously absent features be added in the upgrade?

After all the talk of requested-features, Apple began its preview, at its Cupertino headquarters, with something not on anybody’s list: peer-to-peer networking.

iPhone to get extreme makeover next week

Apple’s iPhone software will have its third major makeover unveiled next Wednesday NZ time. All iPhone fans have their wish list for version 3 of the iPhone OS; here are the top 5 most-rumoured features.

Apple will not confirm any details ahead of the unveiling, but users are not short of suggestions. They include:

1. Cut-and-paste. iPhone needs to catch up with the BlackBerry Storm, HTC Android G1 (and soon the G2 Magic) in this meat-and-potatoes feature.
