The stock exchange operator says it complied with continuous disclosure at all times, including at the time chief executive Mark Weldon sold 2 million shares last month.

Trans-Tasman sueing to be made easier

New Zealand and Australia have moved closer to resolving trans-Tasman legal disputes simpler, cheaper and more efficiently.

Both countries introduced Trans Tasman Proceedings bills this week.

In a joint statement Justice Minister Simon Power and Australian attorney general Robert McClelland said the bills would allow a broader range of judgments to be registered and enforced between the countries.

It would allow court appearances by video-link and enforcement of regulatory regimes supporting trans-Tasman markets.

Private funder Quantum Litigation enters NZ market

The Australian-based litigation funding company Quantum Litigation has launched itself into the New Zealand market by funding a claim related to an insolvent company.

Quantum’s chairman Brian Stevenson a is New Zealander and a good proportion of the company’s shareholder are also New Zealand-based but it was not until the High Court gave the green light last year to private litigation funding that it made sense to move into the market.
