The arrival of Nextspace into Wynyard Quarter will help boost council-owned Waterfront Auckland's plan to have an innovation precinct in the area.

Right Hemisphere's Nextspace consultancy has signed up three tertiary institutions to its high-tech cluster. The move is part of a government-funded bid to create a $1 billion-a-year 3D graphics industry in New Zealand.

NextSpace was created in February this year as one of the conditions of a controversial $18 million, interest-free government loan given to its parent, Right Hemisphere.
