Private construction projects on the rise

The latest Pacifecon Construction report reveals that twenty four new major projects at the planning stage were announced last month, with individual floor values of $5 million.

Of the twenty four newly announced projects, fourteen are from the private sector – a big turnaround from the public sector being behind 75% of major projects two months ago.

Of the remaining projects two are public private partnerships and eight are fully from public companies.

New Lynn’s $300m Newmarket-esque makeover

Funding for the redevelopment of New Lynn has been secured which will go towards upgrading the town centre as well as the rail and road.

The West Auckland area aspires to have a town centre like that of Newmarket according to Waitakere City Council's website.

“New Lynn has a future that one day will see it rival places like Newmarket as one of the most prestigious town centres in the Auckland region,” the website said.
