The National government’s popularity has fallen slightly in the latest public opinion poll, along with the Maori Party, while that of its two other support parties has risen.

The Roy Morgan New Zealand poll, taken in the two weeks to November 15, shows the government’s overall rating has fallen 3.5 points to 57% – still well ahead of the opposition parties on a total of 43%, a 3.5-point rise.

Poll shows steepest government popularity drop since election

The government’s popularity has slumped the most since John Key was elected prime minister last November, the latest Roy Morgan public opinion poll shows.

But the fall of confidence in the government has been offset by a rise in consumer confidence to itshighest in 18 months.

National’s poll rating has slid four percentage points to 56% while Labour’s has moved up the same amount to 33%.

The latest Roy Morgan Government Confidence Rating is up 8.5 points to 151.5 - the highest ever recorded.

New Zealand is "heading in the right direction"  68.5% of New Zealanders say (up 3.5%), compared to just 17% who say New Zealand is "heading in the wrong direction" (down 5%).
