TiVo boss in town with message for Telecom’s rivals

Hybrid TV chief executive Robbee Minicola is in Auckland this week to lobby Telecom’s rivals in the ISP market.

Hybrid (one-third owned by TVNZ, two-thirds by Seven Media) holds the Australasian license for TiVo.

TiVo was launched in New Zealand in November last year, with Telecom as its exclusive retailer, and only Telecom Broadband customers able to access TiVo’s Caspa service, which offers movies and TV series as pay-per-view broadband downloads.

TiVo promises 3D content, 12 on-demand channels

TiVo says it will add 12 on-demand TV channels to its Caspa broadband service.

The new channels will go live on July 14.

TiVo bulks up with Disney deal

In a deal first flagged by NBR, Hybrid TV, the Australasian licensee for TiVo (one-third owned by TVNZ, one third by Seven Media) has announced a deal with Disney Media Distribution that will provide hundreds of hours of extra pay-per-view downloads for the struggling company.

TiVo has two components: a broadcast TV feed via Freeview HD, and "Caspa", a broadband-based service that offers movies and TV programmes on-demand, on a pay-per-view basis.
