Chorus's credit rating has been placed on review for a possible downgrade by Moody and Standard and Poor's following the regulator's decision to cut the price the network company can charge for access to its ageing copper lines.

The Commerce Commission cedes some ground in setting the final regulated price for Chorus's wholesale copper services - but not enough to avoid the government's threat to over-ride the regulator. UPDATED: Chorus shares spiral.
"Despite the spin, nothing has happened that is outside of the arrangements the Government put in place in 2011. If the Government gives in here, it will be setting a precedent for every time Chorus wants more money."
