Capacity, as measured by available seat kilometres, was down 0.6 percent while the group load factor rose 2.9 percentage points, the airline said today.
For the financial year-to-date since July 1, passenger numbers were up 6.8 percent to 11.2m, RPKs lifted 5.3 percent, capacity was up 3.1 percent, and the passenger load factor improved 1.7 points.
Passenger numbers rose 4.8 percent on domestic routes to 676,000 in April, and Tasman/Pacific numbers were up 9.2 percent to 221,000.
On routes through Asia and Japan to Britain, passenger numbers fell 9 percent last month from a year earlier to 41,000, while on the route through North America to Britain numbers were up 3.3 percent to 67,000.
