‘A bit one sided’ - Lachie McLeod on coverage of the SCF trial

Acquitted of fraud, former South Canterbury Finance chief executive Lachie McLeod thanked his family, wife and daughters and the local Timaru folk who supported him over the past four years.

But he was less endeared by the media’s portrayal of the trial and the authorities that laid the charges against him and former directors Bob White and Edward Sullivan.

The last was yesterday found guilty of making false statements relating to the failed finance company while Mr McLeod and Mr White were cleared of any wrongdoing.
