Apathetic lawyers stayed away in droves

A handful of gung-ho lawyers – fuelled by membership apathy – are poised to radically restructure the commercially profitable Auckland district law society.

According to one who attended, only about 25 to 30 lawyers from a membership of about 3000 turned up at a special general meeting on Wednesday night to discuss what were advertised as “vital changes to the society’s future”.
