Auckland congestion blamed on too much parking

Auckland’s economy is strangled by minimum parking requirements which have resulted in congestion and poor land use, a Green Party transport spokeswoman says. 

MP Julie Anne Genter, a transport planner before she entered Parliament in 2011, says getting rid of these parking requirements could even one day remove the need for Auckland to have an urban growth boundary.
