Beca takes tenancy squabble to High Court

A rent dispute between engineering giant Beca and its landlord has landed in the Wellingon High Court. 

Beca - which has over 200 staff working in Aorangi House in Wellington's Thorndon - is fighting with its landlord, investment company Kyburn Investment over rent renewals. 

According to a recently released High Court decision, one of Beca’s leases was up for review and the parties went to arbitration to determine what new rents should be.

However, during the arbitration, Kyburn requested the arbitrator, Peter O’Brien, be removed.
