My convention centre won't cost ratepayers anything - developer

While Queenstown Lakes District Council is considering a tourist tax to pay for a $50 million convention centre a private developer says he will build one for no cost to ratepayers.

The council has written to the government asking for consideration of the tourist tax idea and also asks if the government will pay $20 million of the $50 million convention centre proposal.
