Damning emails back Housing NZ whistleblower

Emails from senior Housing New Zealand managers prove whistleblower Matt Johnson was ordered to hand over a $3 million earthquake repair contract in breach of government tendering rules.

The repair work is now being offered through a competitive registration of interest – but only after Mr Johnson resigned from his $150,000 a year job and took a personal grievance claim.

HNZ has begrudgingly released an "independent" report into the scandal but Mr Johnson says it has investigated the wrong question and is a waste of time.
