Digi-Tech mastermind tells court of IRD’s misbehaviour

Digi-Tech investors got what they bargained for when they signed up to the 1990s tax benefit scheme, a court has heard.

The claim was made as the scheme’s mastermind, John Reid, represented himself at Auckland High Court, fighting IRD accusations he was “telling porkies” about the tax effectiveness of the scheme.

Mr Reid wants a declaration the IRD is liable for losses and damages first, followed by an inquiry into how much that could amount to.
