Don't blame Don Elder, energy expert tells 'hypocritical' politicians

If Labour’s SOE spokesperson Clayton Cosgrove is to be believed, Don Elder is not only a villain and a scoundrel, but is almost single-handedly responsible for Solid Energy’s $389 million mountain of debt.

Hardly a day goes by without the bellicose politician delivering excoriating indictments of the embattled former ceo, who is working from home to help the company get back on an even keel.

“Dr Elder’s $1.3 million sofa-salary is the epitome of the culture of extravagance that helped bring Solid Energy to its knees,” he bellows to all and sundry.
