Eb Leary continues to assert his innocence

Minutes after a two-year name suppression was lifted by the Court of Appeal Auckland crime barrister Eb Leary – discharged on a drugs-related money-laundering charge – issued the following statement:“Over the last two years I have always asserted my innocence, and at the first available opportunity a judge agreed so I was discharged without trial but with no suppression of name.“This has given me a much stronger and more sympathetic understanding of how the wrongly accused feel when facing the might of the state.
