Employer seeks repeal of ‘vulnerable worker’ clause

The boss of the country’s largest commercial cleaning company is putting his money where his mouth is in a campaign to repeal vulnerable worker provisions proposed in the Employment Relations Ammendment Bill.

Grant McLauchlan, managing director of Dunedin-based Crest Commercial Cleaning, wants vulnerable worker provisions found in Part 6A (continuity of employment) of the bill thrown out.

Essentially, they oblige businesses to take on any existing staff or meet their entitlements if they are taking over a business or service contract.
